Love Rules

Hello Happy Couples.

I have been a Celebrant for 9 years and always felt saddened that I could marry couples but was unable to marry the woman I loved.

When the yes vote passed in 2017 my partner and I were overjoyed. After 37 years of togetherness, our relationship could finally be cemented in a legal marriage.

Legally Married

We tied the knot on January 2018, in front of family and friends in a small ceremony at Nobby’s Beach. Actually, Jack was our celebrant! The love and support we experienced is still so meaningful to us both. Words really can’t describe the way we both felt. It was truly a wonderful day and the memory of which still makes us smile today. It is always an honour to share this feeling.

I have conducted five gay weddings to date and it is such a delight to be able to participate in your joyous occasion. At “Just I Do” we can tailor an intimate ceremony for you in our registry style room at The Hunter Wetlands. This is ideal if you are wanting a small low key ceremony. The number of guests can vary from the legally required 2 witnesses to a maximum of 8 people to be accommodated comfortably in the registry room.

The Hunter Wetlands is a beautiful spot for post-wedding photographs. A picnic or BBQ in the grounds is an option for a casual celebration. There is also a cafe upstairs which provides a light luncheon option. The choice is yours. Recently, we had one couple get married at the registry room, before going onto a local hotel for the after-party.

Full wedding service

Of course, it is your day and some couples decide on a bigger affair. The Wetlands also has a beautiful outdoor chapel, should you require a bigger venue.  This is a back to nature affair with lovely views over the water and, at this time of year, baby swans.

At “Just I Do”, the team are waiting to be of service to you, ‘The Happy Couple’.
